PIN lost with Upgrading 830 Map??

I have now seen two posters who reported in a North American forum that upgrading to NA map 830 has wiped out the PIN from their unit. Has anybody here experienced the same problem with updating your European map?

The security number entered using Home to 'lock' your unit.

Now I know what you mean and although I do not use it, it seems to be stored in settings.dat in the root directory which was modified on my attempted update.

I also lost this, and my Favourites, and the sound settings attached to POIs.

Mine has gone also, and favourites too. I think it has displayed all POI on map as well as losing sounds! Grrr
