Not much help I'm afraid, but I get the same error on my TomTom 940. Very frustrating having tried it twice and the download is over 2GB! |

Getting the same here on a Go930T very frustrating. Thank god I made a back up beforehand. Trying TT support but they are BUSY. Must be all the customers complaining about this update. |

Probably not the probem BUT....
Check in Add Programs of Control Panel whether you have dot net framework installed on your computer.
If not, you can get it from here _________________ David |

Have all versions of .net framework on the machine. Has always worked ok until this map update so would suggest a problem at TT with update. |

I doubt it is my PC as I have updated many times before on the 940 and the 530 updated without issue. _________________ Drivelux |

It gets worse, now Home wants to charge me £74.95 for the map when I am on the map update service. _________________ Drivelux |

This is probably something you have checked but worth asking, you are logged in to TomTom Home with the correct account applicable to the device you have connected? - its easy to miss when you have mulitple devices - Mike |

Yes logged into the right account, Home does that automatically when you connect and start in the last few releases (I got another release today 2.6.3.1609).
Removing all the existing download files enabled the download to start again but whether it will install again I will not know for a few hours.
I can manually extract the files from the W&CE.zip and activation.cab files and they work on the Go940. All that seems to be missing on the Go is the map details in the "GO:\maps" directory called Western_and_Central_Europe.tlv. _________________ Drivelux |

Well I have totally restored the 940 to earlier times tried to install again and to no avail.
I have taken a backup pre the last maps and restored that to an SD card, put TT Home 2.6.3.1609 on a new computer and tried to update that way using a card reader and still the same result.
The map will work when manually extracted and copied to the Go but Home just will not install it. Obviously it is downloading for my device otherwise the map would not activate on a manual install. It did not like the previous configuration file which if restored causes endless reboots, so I have a new one. Otherwise the map works.
This map is unique to the "go920, go930_4096, go940_4096_t_weu & go7000" range, so has oneone with one of these models managed to update to the 8.30.2305 Central and Western European Map? _________________ Drivelux |

I understand how annoying it is when home won't play ball, but if you are able to install the map yourself (you said only the .tlv file which Home uses was duff), does it really matter? |

Next time you try and update using home, it behaves oddly, you can see fuel files and camera files being copied by the file names (not that any have been selected for download), the error message above reappears and all the map files are missing from the Go.
So the short term workaround is to not connect the Go to Home and use the copied across map files and keep trying on the SD Card until it works again, then I will update the Go again.
The tlv file is missing, but I can edit an old one to fit, although I am not sure where the tlv file comes from as it does not appear in any of the download caches. _________________ Drivelux |

I left my machine downloading the map update overnight and got the error this morning. Tried again to no avail. I then switched off my 940 and turned it back on again only to find I only have a North America map on the device!
This device is so going to be the last TomTom I buy. |

Home has deleted the old maps to install the new, but the new will install.
You can either wait for TT to fix it, restore from a backup or go on your PC into your Home/downloads/complete/map/Western_and_Central_Europe-* folder. Find the latest version, normally where * is the highest number.
Find Western_and_Central_Europe.zip and extract the files to your WE map folder on the Go.
You need to do the same for the activation_map_5****.cab and extract the single file from this to the Go WE map folder.
You can ignore the gif and toc files.
Your device will now work with the latest map but Home will not properly recognise it as installed, so do not try and reinstall from Home until TT have fixed this or you will have to do the manual install again. _________________ Drivelux |
