Route Planner - Editing, can I select lots of waypoints?

Hi,

I want to edit a route in the route planner of a route tracked on my active 10.

I forgot to turn the unit off at the end of a bike ride so have about 10 miles driven in a car to remove, and also where my route goes along a straight bit of road I don't really need 10 waypoints, the whole route contains 833 waypoints and I only seem to be able to remove one at a time, which also seems to take about a minute each, is there a way I can select a lot of waypoints at once to delete?

Seems to struggle doing anything to the route at the moment, I'm guessing becuase it has so many waypoints, I'm sure satmap will eventually address this as you can expect routes to have a lot of waypoints if it's tracking for a few hours? Or would it be easier to open the route into something else that's got easier editing tools?

I did the same a short while ago. I think the best option is to open the file in a text editor and remove surplus points by hand. Just be careful, don't use the original file, and for every opening tag you remove all including the closing tag.

Hi jonesbach, what you suggest is a bit beyond what I know, but I'll copy the file and have a go and see if I can make any sense of it.

it's free and does a lot more than just convert routes

Hi SallyAndKev, thanks for that link, I gave it a quick go, it's doing a few funny things at the moment though and adding bits to my route - dead ends going off to the left and right in a few places? Probably need to play around with it a bit more?

Also have to thank jonesbach who kindly supplied me with a program that deletes about 2 out of 3 waypoints, worked great and reduced a route of about 750 waypoints to 250 making it more managable in the route planner
