I want to go on hols and take my handheld PC with me. I do not drive. What GPS system can i use to explore the countryside with?

Yes, because that rules out sleeve type GPS receivers, but as the XDA II has bluetooth then these are a possibility. I don't know anything more about the XDA II so can't tell you if a wired receiver is an option. There are a few different GPS receivers around and some places offer bundles.

If you look to the left, you'll see GPS reviews for hardware and software. I would imagine you'd want to look at Bluetooth for hardware and topo for software.

Jump right in and start reading up on the wonders of GPS. There is also a comparison database so that when you've worked out what features are important to you, check out via the comparison chart to see which package best suits your need.
