Nuvi 250w - british voice

Hi,

Any way of getting a male british (normal, not clebrity) voice on this unit? I cannot stand the female one and have searched but only found British Dan that did not install.

Hi and welcome.

If you use WebUpdater it should offer to install / update any normal voices onto the unit.

I found a file on the garmin site that was an exe file and did not want to know. I then found an english_american_.vpm (male one) which I copied over the existing american female one on the unit and it works fine. I now have a male voice but I am still searching for a british male voice in .vpm format to write over the existing female one.

You shouldn't have to overwrite anything. As i said if you use WebUpdater it'll offer to install any missing voices which should include British Male and Female voices. This will also ensure that the voices are intended for your unit.

Used webupdater and it did have an update for the british voice (something to do with clarity) and I let it update and it was the same female again but louder! British Dan must be around somewhere in the correct format so I will carry on searching the net I guess. Thankyou for trying to help though.

Is British Dan a voice that came with your unit? If so, why is it no longer on it. If not, do you not have another Male UK voice on there?

The English Dan is TTS I do believe so that would not work on the 250.

I will take a look at this though as I might create a standard voice.
