I am considering buying a Tomtom 530T but can find none locally.
If I bought a 530 and a TMC lead would they work the same as a 530T?
Cheers,

Yes, exactly the same.
The 530T model is just those two items in the same box. |

If you go for two separate units make sure you get the mini USB style RDS receiver as its a better unit, only marginally but worth it if you have the choice - Mike |

I have both, Mike, and have not yet noticed any difference. Still, to be fair, I have not used either on long trips. Both instantly get a signal and hold it in all the journeys I have done in the SE England. Off to europe shortly so that will be a good test.
BTW I do not subscribe to TT traffic, just the freebee.

Thanks to you all for your advice.Much appreciated. One further query,is there a dedicated RDS-TMCreceiver for the 530 or,is one receiver suitable for all Tomtoms that require them? Thanks again.
Regards,
binty. |

This one here is the one you want. You will see that it is compatible with your 530 and, according to Mike Alder, whose advice I would always take, is the better one for your needs.
But note this comment on the site "This accessory requires the latest version of the TomTom application. Connect your TomTom device to your computer and use TomTom HOME to update your application automatically and for free. "

Thanks Gee-Pee.Will go for this.
Note you have had a few Tomtoms. What's the truth about only being able to register one Tomtom per e-mail address. have read this elsewhere in sat nav reviews.

It's true, you MUST register every different TomTom device which you own with its own unique email address. _________________ Dennis

And to elaborate, if you have more than one device each with its own email address HOME recognises each device and logs on to the appropriate account as you connect it. It's not a problem _________________ Gee-Pee
