TomTom 930 Favourites & POI's

Because of the lack of favourites stored on the tomtom 930 (48 to be precise) the only way to store locations is thru the POI's, but the problem i have is the POI's are not in alphabetical order, they are stored as closest to where your SatNav is at the time.

is there any way around this i.e storing names in order. As i need to store a customer base of about 200 locations by Customer Names.

The POIs are stored randomly. It's how they are shown that matters. If you choose "near me" etc, you'll get them arranged nearest first.

If you want to go to a particular one, use the "find" option at the bottom of the screen in any of the options.

I thank you all for your comments but it does seem that TomTom have taken a step back on the situation. My old Navman could store up to 200 Favourites and unlimited POI's and newer products on the market can also do the same including Garmin's new range which can store up to 500, so why have TomTom (A leading SatNav company) produced products that can only store 48, & why 48, seems a odd number to me. i have been told that my 930t & other models has enough memory to store more than this but it's down to TomTom's file system. you cannot even store them on the SD card and read them from there which is a shame.

I have written a formal customer complaint letter to TomTom to find if this can be changed by a Firmware upgrade or something like that & what are their intentions for future products.

If more people complained to TomTom about the limited amount of Favourites stored on their products they might have to do something.

I think that most people use a POI file because they know that they can move it safely from device to device.
To re-iterate what GerryC said, if you tap Navigate to..., POI, then POI near you, then your POI file name (if you use it regularly it will be on the 1st screen, if not, tap Right and choose it from the list. Hint: if you start the file name with a "_" it will appear above Airport). Then tap Find and type part of the name (it doesn't need to be the start of the name).

Many thanks for you comments Jock but i think you are missing the point.

I do understand the POI system and how it works but seem's to be a very long way of going around it to select a pictular favourite.

Also it's not the transfering of 500 favourites i want, the fact is i have a client base of over 200 that would be nice to keep in a favourites folder.

my debate is if other Sat Nav companys can make products with "X" numbers of favourites then why are TomTom selling themselves short.

And after all POI's were originally what they said they were "Points Of Intrest" (Petrol Stations, Resturants, Zoo's etc) whereas Favourites were for Places you would visit the most.

Only a couple of days ago, I'm sure Andy_P said you can find any POI from any of the find options (Near, in City, etc) by tapping one of those icons, then starting to type the name of the POI.

e.g. When you ask for POI near you, at present you don't get Wilson & Co because it's number 173 in the list. But according to Andy, if you still go for "POI Near Me", then start to type Wilson, it'll show up.

Incidentally, as a POI category, if you create the category _Clients it'll appear as the first POI category in any list - note that's Clients preceded by the underscore character.
