|
|
Hi all, I'm a newbie to forum use so here goes,
I used to be able to download a single camera file with all locations, types and speed limits inside.
Now I only get the option of consolidated or zoned, where have the single files gone or what am I doing wrong?
answers please |

Welcome to the forums!
Your not doing anything wrong, your just another member who misses their beloved single camera file!
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=75341
It would be interesting to know, if the support questions from members now asking where the single files have gone, are now out-weighing the number of questions on what the single file was

The single file in TomTom OV2 format has been discontinued as it became a bit pointless when the TT devices became capable of handling more POIs. Very few users were downloading it, as it contained little detail - you just got a warning of a camera, not type or speed.
The consolidated download is not much more and shows different camera types, but again, no speed information. I use the Speed zoned version, which not only shows all the different types of camera, but also displays the speed AND allows me to user the voice warnings which speak the speed limit too.
If you're desperate to use the single file, you can still get there by downloading the single file version in ASC format and then using a program to convert them to OV2 (free download ov2tools.zip) _________________ Dennis

They aren't, we've had maybe a dozen queries and at least three of the ones I replied to by email have since come back telling me how much better the consolidated or SpeedZoned versions are
Get used to it's absence
I've told you how to re-create it if you must. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thank you Darren,
At least if you `keep` offering it as a csv, asc etc its not the end of the world!

Thanks for the prompt reply and a single file "fix it" url.
There must be lots of people like me who prefer a single file which is easy to turn on or off within tomtom,
As a driver & rider I actually know what speed limit applies on my current road, it just comes down to a choice of whether I stick to it or not. |

So do I. That's why I always download the consolidated version which displays no speed limits. However, it does give me the advantage of telling me whether the nearby camera is a fixed, mobile, red light or SPECS, which tells me how to safely react if my speed has crept too high. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

Dennis, your picture looks familiar. Haven't I seen you singing on a TV talent show recently? |

Ahh. Sorry, Karl - I'm so accustomed to remote admiration that I just naturally assumed. _________________ Dennis
