The EU safety cams all seem to have that description - EU - so how can I recognise those for just one country where it is illegal to even have them on your GPS device, so that I can remove them _________________ Gee-Pee

Those countries where it is illegal to have them have already been removed. i.e. there are no Swiss cameras in the database.
On the other hand they are still collected in case things change. |

As Paul says, for those countries where it is forbidden and proven to be so we don't offer the data. For other countries where it is either forbidden but not actively prosecuted or where it is a grey area and the situation is unclear we continue to offer them.
Eire is a case in point, technically illegal but our information is that it is just one more of the many laws that are ignored in the real world! _________________ Darren Griffin |

The country I was referring to is Switzerland. Last year I 'phoned the Swiss Travel Service before I went and they said that there was no such ban. However, I have now seen documents which categorically
state that just by having safety Camera POIs on a GPS could lead to penalty etc., so just making sure I don't have any on the device. Thanks. _________________ Gee-Pee

After you select the Sat Nav System you are downloding for you then have to choose Consolidated or Speed Zoned. To the left of the drop down box it states:
Quote: | Camera selections
EUR does not include UK!
SWISS cameras are NOT included in the EUR files! |

Many thanks, Paul I wonder if TomTom's own camera database also excludes them ? _________________ Gee-Pee

In fact, if you buy a TomTom in Switzerland with European mapping, you don't get ANY camera databases at all.
Here's a couple of questions for the team... I think I'm right in saying that you would still like REPORTS of Swiss cameras?
.... and if someone reports a Swiss camera, are they eligible for the free life subscription? |
