Looking on the TeleAtlas website, it appears the DVD version of McGuider 2009 is now available, and for only £39.99 (here)
A word of warning - the promised 1 year of speed camera updates for registering does not appear to be being honoured (at least not for early adopters buying the SD card version). Then again the camera alerts here are much more reliable and comprehensive in my opinion) |

Doh... never checked that bit and just assumed the buy it now button would mean it is available. I guess it will disappear off the website in the next few days then. |

I wouldn't expect you to, but there again I suppose it's what I've come to expect of TeleAtlas. I'll keep trying each day, same as I check the Mcguider site each day!
At £39 it seems almost too good to be true for the whole of Europe, but there again I haven't got it yet! |

I see today, McGuider are also advertising the DVD, but once again you can't get it.
Interesting, you can only do one activation from the DVD, not sure if I need to do a second activation, do I buy another DVD? |

I queried the availability of the DVD with Tele Atlas Nav Shop and received this reply:
"Thank you for your E-mail and your interest in Tele Atlas products.
Unfortunately the DVD version of McGuider is not available yet. It will be introduce in April.
In case you have any additional remarks or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us."
Ah well, I guess I'll have to try tomorrow! |

I'd be happy to run it from a card, has anyone tried to copy the card version onto a bigger card and use that, will it work?

The SD Card version can be copied and activated on a larger card once. I did this to move mine to the 8GB card that comes with my Touch HD. |

I see tonight that you can now buy the "2009 McGuider Europe 2009 DVD" on the Tele Atlas site. The price of £39 includes VAT and postage (2 to 5 days delivery), fast delivery (1 to 2 days) is an extra £8.81.
There is an added comment "Delivery as of 28.04.2009"
The McGuider site still says the DVD is "coming soon".
DVD is now ordered |

Ordered my DVD on the 20th, received it today. £33.15 with my discount for having the previous version.
Currently having a few issues installing it, but hopefully nothing too serious.
Cheers

It looks like TeleAtlas have pulled the DVD version already as it no longer appears on the website. The only options now are Europe 09, US 08 and the poor Safety Cameras. |

Strange - looks like I was lucky to get my copy when I did. Now I have got over the installation issues (user error), it seems to be running ok. I think it is the latest build (4056). A little bit slower than the previous version perhaps, but the maps are definitely newer which was my main reason for purchase.
Cheers

When the DVD was shown on the TeleAtlas web site it said it worked on any platform (which I took to include my aging iPaq 2200 PDA). The SD Europe 09 version only seems to mention mobile phone platforms

McGuider 2009 now comes on a SDHC card and my Ipaq 2200 won't read it so I use it in my phone. |

When you install it (at least if you install onto an SD card in a card reader rather than via Active Sync), it asks for the make / model of the device you are installing to. I assume if your device is not on the list you can just pick a device that is on the list, but I don't know if this would cause any problems?
I am running it on a HP 614C if that helps at all.
Cheers
