I might just be being stupid here, but I'm stuck
I have a proclip fitted into my car, that's all fine. And I have an attachment for my N96 which the phone fits into just fine.
The instructions say take off the backing plate and screw it to the pro-clip. How? The proclip has no holes in it and is very thick plastic. Do I need to start drilling holes into it? |

There should be some self tapping screws with the N96 attachment. These should screw into to Proclip without having to drill. You may want to make a pilot hole to get the positioning right though. Taking the backing plate off is just so that you can access the holes easier.
Though I've used Proclip mounts for several years, I've always used the "moveclip" which lets you swap devices and is held on with adhesive pads. _________________ Gerry

Strange. I tried screwing them in very very hard but they barely scratch the surface! |

You could use double-sided adhesive pads - probably from a DIY store etc.
If you're not worried about taking them apart again, superglue may work.
As I said, I've never tried screwing it together so was going by what I remembered the instructions saying. _________________ Gerry

They can be tricky but I've never had to pre-frill the holes but you may find it easier if you do.
However I now use 'MOVE' clips instead. These affix using adhesive pads to the mount and cradle and allow quick removal as necessary.

No, you're not alone, Mark...
When I bought a Brodit Proclip and TomTom mount, I got the feeling I'd been given a half-finished kit of parts, which would definitely have needed a drill (and some shorter screws!) to make a decent finished result.
In the end I got a 'move clip' instead, which used a sticky pad onto the dash and was very successful.
Strangely enough, the 'move clip' DID have screw holes on just one half... which weren't needed! |

The screws will go in to the hard plastic but you do need to use quite a bit of force, the four supplied scews are very sharp, although I have never needed "frilly holes" to put them in - Mike |

I posted a couple of info threads earlier today that detail fitting the Brodit kit to a car, perhaps you might want to have a look at This Or This One
But I have to agree those little screws are far from easy to get in to the plastic face of the Pro-Clip, I did consider the move it clips as I have used them on previous installations but decided a fixed install was probably best for the time being - Mike |

Thanks for all the replies. I'll just have to have a go at using the forceful approach then. I was sure I was doing something wrong or I'd been sent the wrong parts! |

Try fitting the two parts together with the Pro-Clip in a vice or similar, this way if you slip with the screwdriver you won't damage the cars trim - Mike |
