Hi Guys
Just heared on the radio that the QE Bridge on the M25 is going to be closed over night for the next couple of weeks for the instalation of speed cameras.
Watch you speed guys, it 50 on the bridge, not that you can go faster than that most of the time. |

So what justification are they stating now, surely the QEB isn't an accident blackspot with load of fatalities?
Or is it just another money making ruse. |

Can't see the point, most of the time you are lucky to be able to do more than 20. |

Direct qoutes from the Highways Agency and Essex Police..........http://www.highways.gov.uk/news/pressrelease.aspx?pressreleaseid=172040
In all the time I`ve travelled over that bridge.....gotta be 10 years now, i`ve not seen one accident that has caused any more problems than the actual tolls themselves.
Remove the tolls and remove the problem imo. |

Do you mean like they said they were going to once the bridge had paid for itself (a couple or three years ago) . Do away with the toll and put a speed limit of 30mph enforced by specs. That should do the trick to improve traffic flow considerably whilst still maintaining revenue. |

One interesting point though
These Specs camera's now cover the full length of the bridge, the speed limit between these cameras is not the same over the full length of the bridge, Its 50mps for 3 quarters of the bridge then drops to 40. I wonder how they do that with Specs
I suppose the cameras could be installed as 2 seperate systems, but its something to watch out for.
Unless they plan to change the limit on the bridge. I know the section of road after the bridge it getting a variable speed limit, I wonder if thats the plan for the bridge as well. |

Providing the middle cam is at the speed limit change, it's easy. Time between cam 1 and 2 gives speed in the first section. Time between cam2 and cam 3 gives the speed in the second section. QED |

Been over the bridge again tonight so took more notice of were the cameras are in relation to the speed limits.
3 of the 4 sets are within the 50mph zone and the last set are within the 40mph zone
So only 1 set within the 40mph zone
Also noticed the Camera not in use signs are now gone. so must asume they are now all working |

The only time I really got held up,apart from normal traffic problems, was 2/3 years back when that lorry ran into the back of a woman waiting to pay...sadly killed her. |
