Hi everyone !
I'm pretty new to the world of PDA and GPS, and I'm experiencing problems setting up TTN3 with my Royaltek RBT-3000 (aka BlueGPS) wireless GPS reciever.
The GPS was working fine with some GPS Freeware (VisualGPSce) right before I installed TTN3.
From there, everything went wrong :
- Can't get any connection between TTN3 and my Bluetooth GPS
- VisualGPSce (Freeware) can't open COM6 port anymore
- Even BlueGPS software can't connect to receiver anymore !..
Looks to me like COM6 port is locked, for some reasons, but I don't know how to free it. I uninstalled the GPS Freeware and even the BlueGPS soft, just to see if TTN3 would be happy w/ it ... but with no success !...
Does anyone have any idea or advise that could help ?...
Thanks! |

First try a soft reset if you haven;t already done so.
Remove any reference to the RBT-3000 in BT Manager. If you then try to pair the two devices can the 4150 'see' the Royaltek? _________________ Darren Griffin |

First, thanks for helping Darren !
I already tried a soft Reset ... that didn't help.
Yes, if I remove the RBT-3000 from the Bluetooth Manager, I am then able to find it again w/ no problems, and make a new shortcut.
The blue light of the GPS receiver also comes on as it should.
Everything seems OK on this side ...
Looks like the prblm comes from the GPS softwares trying to use a COM port that is not available anymore (Bluetooth COM6, it seems ...). |

In TomTom Navigator GPS what settings do you have configured?
I use 'TomTom Wireless GPS' for the type and 'Bluetooth GPS' for the Port.
Also have you installed any other software that uses Com Ports? keyboards etc? _________________ Darren Griffin |

No, I didn't install any other Bluetooth hardware.
The only Bluetooth software I installed was VisualGPSce, and it worked perfect (COM6) ... until I put TTN3 on yesterday.
I uninstalled it, but it didn't help TTN3 to work better.
In the TT GPS setup, I've trying lots of combinaison (SIRF Bluetooth and NMEA Bluetooth, both w/ all the COM port that were available) with no success.
THE strange thing is that the "Bluetooth port COM6" was the only one I couldn't select (Check box unavailable with this value ...), while I truly think its the one I should be using since it used to work w/ another GPS application.
As I read it in some other Forum, I just tried an older version of the TT GPS (version 2.06), but the COM6 is just not available in the menu anymore !!.. |

Something has obviously locked that Com Port or changed the registry. Did you perform a soft reset?
If you have without any resolution then the only thing I can suggest is a Hard Reset to restore the device to it's out of the box state. You can then re-install TomTom and COM6 should be restored. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Which bit exactly was the solution, was it the soft reset? _________________ Darren Griffin |

No, the soft Reset didn't help at all.
Only the Hard Reset did resolve everything (unlocked COM6).
Thanks again !!! |

Hmm, I'd love to know what had trashed your COM Port settings. Anyway glad it's resolved at least :D _________________ Darren Griffin |
