|
|
I've just bought a remote control to use with my 540. It works fine except I can't work out how to access the voice control with it?
Maybe I've made the schoolboy error of believing what TomTom have written in the booklet that came with the unit?
REMOTE CONTROL
"This sleek Bluetooth remote makes it even easier to operate your TomTom device. Adjust the volume, access the voice control and more with a single touch"
Any ideas?
Thanks

Page 6 of the Manual shows the Volume control to be the left and right switch at the bottom of the remote under the 3 buttons.

I think he's talking about being able to speak to the unit, not adjust the volume (as in the Dialogue feature on my x20 devices). _________________ Dennis

Thanks for the quick reply, but it's the voice control that I can't find. not the volume. |

The bottom thing is the volume control only, -/+.
I haven't got an x40, which I understand has more voice control features than mine. On x20 I believe you use it to go through the menu until you reach the Dialogue icon, although I've never done that myself (I went there by steam-powered finger taps!). But I don't know how you'd use it to fire up the Dialogues on x40s.
I presume that, like x20s, you press button B to activate menus, then right/left/up/down to navigate to the page and icon you want, then button B to select that icon for action. _________________ Dennis

I have a 940 and bluetooth remote.
To the best of my knowledge you cannot use the remote to access voice control. (someone will come along and confirm this)
If it has the same features as a 940 goto preferences - voice control preferences and ensure that enable voice control is selected.
This then displays a microphone symbol on the map view which you tap to access voice control.
Hope I have understood your question correctly _________________ Malcolm

Try pressing and holding the main button in the center of the four way ring, after a second or two it should active the voice control - Mike |

Does the bluetooth remote for the x40 models also control the volume of the hands-free phone function? |

On all previous models (so I can't think why it might be different on x40s), the handsfree volume needs to be set in addition to the device volume setting.
But you do it in the same way as for the TT, but DURING a phone call. So phone yourself up on your home landline and don't answer the home phone, but alter the volume on the TT whilst it's ringing. _________________ Dennis

I can confirm it's the same on the x40s.

This method works well. |
