What is "New 2009 Satmap 10 PLUS C/W Whole World Base m

Over here

They have this Active 10 PLUS New For 2009, Available 1st Week In April.

It has:

V 1.321 Softwear
World Base Maps 1:5m & 1.30m
Full GB Postcode Search
UK Base Map 1:250k & 1:1m

How does this laeve earlier purchasers? is this a hardware update? or a firmware update we can all have? Does the current version have postcode search?

Only ordered my Active 10 ten days ago and asked them if there was a new version being released in the next few weeks? - their answer was "NO"

I was slightly miffed seeing as I bought mine in January.

Then I saw the price! No thanks...got mine for £240 and not that fussed about a postcode searcher. Do mountains have postcodes? Laughing

I know one can use emulation etc, but it really is antiquarian and frankly a painfully slow process. Tell them Routebuddy (who are only down the road in Cranleigh) who have very fine desktop Mac map software would, I am sure, love to get stuck injavascript:emoticon(' Question

Doesn't really look like a new model, does it? Same hardware, different pack of software and maps, for a fair bit more money. Like others here, I've not had my SatMap long, but I don't think there's anything to get upset about here!

Seems odd to me that this should break from an ebay trader, rather than one of the more established dealers. They may, however, have broken an embargo on something to be announced at the Outdoor Show.

The spelling mistakes seem to rule out a copy and paste job from a Satmap release.

Could these be grey imports intended for other markets? Or even an April Fool prank?

Software version 1.231 (as opposed to 1.321) is the current Dutch release.

I'll bet they have simply leaked a new product ahead of an official announcement. Satmap will not be best pleased!

I find it strange that any new model/firmware is featured first on a shop website rather than being showcased on the Satmap site,unless Footsteps have "jumped the gun".

It also makes me wonder if at some future date Satmap will start to charge for firmware updates other than those that correct problems but install added features ( like the Postcode Lookup).

Hi

I notice that the £80 only gives you access to the route planner for 1 year! according to the Satmap site 'Purchase of the Route Planner and Route Share Network package provides access to the web applications for a period of one year, and users must agree to the terms and conditions of use when they first log in.' A lot of money for 1 year I think.

I assume this means that we are getting it for free at the moment will have to pay next year?
