ever considered using the charger cable by default, keep the battery at 100% and then you will get short usage away from the power source when needed - running the device without the power cable is asking for trouble.
At the end of the day if the charger lead wasn't needed TomTom wouldn't include it in the box - Mike |

Why dont they increase the power of the battery to make it last longer? |

Earlier models (like the 910) had fatter batters which held more juice. The Go models, in order to have a thinner profile, have thinner batteries that hold less power in them. _________________ David |

I just noticed that a new .dll file required for "Operate my Go" to work in Home is now available for v8.302.
Just go to the page in Home and the file should be downloaded.
But I thought it was ALREADY working for this version! |

The reason I am worried is that the battery used to be powerful enough with 8.10 app. but now it isn't with 8.302.
The dimming screen display indicates that the device is drawing more current than the battery can supply without the battery voltage dropping excessively. For the battery voltage to drop to that extent, the current must be very high indeed.
The excess current will overload and burn out any component that is not designed to carry it.
Using the charger as a solution is only pushing even more current through the device and will do even more damage. |

More probable to be a software issue rather than supply issue - try a Fluke i30 probe with ten tuns of wire through the sensor connected between the battery and the device - this way you get accurate measurements of what the current draw on the battery is, this does involve taking the device to bits though so if its under warranty don't do it - Mike |

Dammit! If I only had a Fluke i30 probe and a bit of wire I might have given this a try - I mean, what's the warranty worth anyway?
PS - Does it mean screwdrivering to do this? _________________ Dennis

But I wonder if he could help with my wind up torch, which seems to keep going dim - I have to wind it up again. _________________ Dennis

- my wind up torch gave me an electric shock when it self destructed and I shorted out the coil inside with my hand! |

I would have had to have gone to Blackpool to borrow it from Mike first! |
