Has anybody else noticed that you can't record more than one favourite on the same stretch of road?
Bo Peep and I visited the four pSPECS on the A34/A44 near Oxford today, as discussed here. We recorded the location of each pSPECS, as we passed it by, by using quick menu, "add position to Favourites" on the normal navigation screen for quickness. However when I checked the locations (back at home), only one favourite location was there.
Has anybody else found that multiple use of the quick menu, "add position to Favourites" on the same road, whilst travelling has resulted in only one favourite location form being recorded?
I'm using a TomTom 730 with the following:
App 8.300 (9732/081030)
OS: 244890
GPS: V1.20
Boot: 5.5015
Map: Western and Central Europe 2GB V810.1940

Yes, that's why it's the wrong tool for the job.
Right tool is Quickmenu "Mark location of map error". This flags the location and you can go back to pick up the coordinates later, by pretending to make a map correction, e.g. block/unblock or change speed limit. Just don't go through with the map correction and delete it when you've got the coordinates.
Andy_P posted a full description of the method somewhere. _________________ Dennis

Thanks Darren and DennisN,
A case of RTFM then!

Method 3a - Quickmenu Favourites
If your TomTom supports the "Quickmenu" feature you can set it to JUST 'add a favourite' (as suggested above) in the Quickmenu preferences.
Now, with a single tap it will save a Favourite at your present location.
But this has two drawbacks, one small, one large:
1. it automatically gives the new favourite the name of the road you are on, no way to alter it at all, so you have to remember what the camera was, the speed limit etc.
2. If you try to add a second position while you are on the same road (the M25 for example!) it overwrites the first one because it has the same name!

Not at all Robert, you simply came across the disadvantages later than some of the rest of us - I used Quickmenu favourite for ages until it let me down too. _________________ Dennis

I've been nagging TomTom to change that stupid limitation for ages...
All it needs is for the system to add _01, _02, _03 etc. on the end of the name, (like most Windows programs do).

Yes, that seems the case. Whilst I have used Quickmenu favourite for some time, I used to copy the favourite to a temporary POI category if it was marking a speed camera site, or the relevant custom POI category for anything else as soon as possible – this enabled me to see the POI on screen next time that I passed it. Unfortunately the multiple SPECS on the A34 demonstrated that the Quickmenu favourite method is not good enough in these circumstances.

Fallen on deaf ears so far...
TomTom don’t like listening to their customers anymore.
Bring back the support of the excellent TomTom SDK in current versions, so that programs like POI Capture can once again be developed and used.
I’m now using Andy’s Quickmenu Map Corrections method, which is the only way of collecting multiple locations on the same road, although it’s a bit fiddly and requires you to accurately write down the longitude and latitude coordinates as you can’t cut & paste them from the unit.

The map corrections system almost does it for me but it is not the easiest way in the world to get at the Lat/Lon of the position.
One of the options under map corrections is to add the location to a POI but this only works with TT built in POIs, I want to add it to my own category and then load the file in Tyre for easy editing and submission of points.
Unless I am missing a shortcut here or there.
PS you can also enter the map correction as Report Other Error, Other and you can then enter a piece of text to describe the error, I can't find that detail as a file on the TT to get the details that way either

If you mark the location using the map correction shortcut,
then (later) go into map corrections, handle now, Edit street name, Done, (don't change the name) Done. The tomtom will say "No corrections made"
Delete the marked location using the Delete button bottom centre of the screen. Done.
Go into browse map. The cursor will be located where you marked the map correction.
Press the (Blue circle with a cross through it) button at the bottom of the screen. You can then add a favorite or POI which will be positioned where you originally pressed the mark location shortcut menu button.
All sounds long winded (and it is ) but it will store a favorite or POI using the location marked as a map correction. _________________ Paul
