Although my device runs quite satisfactory without the file I will of course download the file and install it. I guessed that some one would point us in the right direction for a download and I thought that it may be you. Thanks. |
Before I read today's posts in this topic I uploaded the crpoi.dat file for the LARGE (not "2GB") version of the v825 W+CE map to Rapidshare. Apparently you can only have 10 downloads, so it's first come, first served

Thanks for helping Mike.
As it happened, I've managed to download the whole zip using Home and a different ISP and it appears to have worked OK.
A great example of the on-line community coming together. Will we have to do it again at the next map update ?!!!

The megaupload link eventually d/l ok and I've reinstalled using the correct file. All ok now, but thus far I can't see any difference to just deleting the corrupt file and installing as I previously described. Obviously using the correct file is more sensible if you are happy to put the effort in to achieve using it. Backup backup backup is the name of the game here. Thanks very much mikealder.

Hi Folks
Yes, the fault in the download was found by a Forum member and the matter all cleared up by the Forum. I suppose Tomtom’s Support Team will come to the same conclusions towards the end of summer. Taking things all round, I think the Forum did us all proud. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Downloaded after 2 hours and installed ok!
I deleted my crpoi.dat file from the \TomTom\HOME\Download\complete\map\Western___Central_Europe_2GB-1\Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB.zip file and added the newly downloaded crpoi.dat file into the zip, then in TomTom Home on the MAPS tab, selected the the map and added it to my TomTom.
Works ok now. But I wonder what the difference between the W&CE2Gb and the other W&CE v825 maps are? Is the latter the "Turkey, Western & CE" maps? _________________ TTG 720

The list of contries covered by both maps is the same, the only difference according to the TomTom web site Map Shop is:
W&CE_2GB map = modified to fit devices with 2GB memory
W&CE Map = unsimplified version

Well despite following the TomTom suggestion of deleting the contents of the download folder I am still unable to update sucessfully on my Mac or PC via my home O2 DSL connection.
I am currently trying on a Vista laptop and a Virginmedia leased line.
I am going try and stick with this fault as I am intrigued as to where the fault lies. |

Things seem even worse on Virgin Media, it spends 2 hours downloading and then times out with the following error:-
ERROR: 2152398862/....... Error from server: The connection to the TomTom server timed out.

Hi G8AMB
Well, I must admit that if I had an error like that appear after two hours of download I would need a stiff drink. I hope that someone comes forward with some advice for you because I must admit that I haven’t a clue what the error means. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Pleased to report that TT have helped me install my new v825 Map. Unfortunately I was using the wrong serial number....within the number was an I which I confused with a 1. TT staff recognised this error and sent me a new .dct file, which added to the appropriate folder, sorted the problem.
I now have the old map stored on my hard drive on the device and the new map on my SDHC card. Now I will be able to compare old with new - maybe _________________ Gee-Pee

Well 825 finally appeared in TT Home last night (in Update My Go and not LMG) and i started the download. It stated 35 minutes on a 10 Mb/s Cable Connection. Went off, had dinner and came back expecting it to be done. It was now crawling along. When it finally finished it threw up the chrome errors as detailed above.
So i started the download again, this time it took a second (obviously a cached copy) and did the same.
I flushed my Internet Cache and cleared the Home/Download/Temp and Home/Download/Map/Complete folders and started again. The 2nd Download (1 hr 55 min min thanks to Virgin Media throttling the bandwidth if you download over 2 Gb in a given period ) resulted in the same errors
Repeat. 3rd 1 hr 55 min download did the same again.
Suddenly had a stupid brain wave. The map was one of 4 updates i was being offered, the other 3 being GPSQuickFix, Fuel Prices and MapShare Update. Previously i'd unticked them and only selected the map to be installed - why install updates for a map you are about to update? This time i ticked those three, left the map unticked and installed. The other 3 items installed ok. I then had only the map left. I started the download a forth time and again it took a second to complete and then the map installed ok with no errors.
Fluke or fix?
It feels like a fix because the map that installed was the same copy (i.e. cached) as the one that previosuly failed... |
