|
|
Hi everyone,
Think I've finally sorted my partners 520 reseting itself with some help from TT Support (Phone).
They seem most helpful if you ring them up which is completely the opposite to their emails that they don't seem to read as it takes 2 or 3 attempts to get the question across.
Anyway....
The problem is when the 520 is plugged in the brightness goes from dim to bright (Not bright bright, but another shade of dim) then back again every 4-5 seconds and its very distracting especially at night.
If I don't have it plugged in then i don't notice the flicker between the two.
Its not the 'Dim between instructions' etc,
My 520 doesn't do this and they're both set up identically.
Might have to finally send it back to TT.
Any ideas before I get on the phone to them, I did mention it and they said it could be the light sensor being faulty.

Try disabling the autobacklight, with some of the more recent software releases I have found backlight control/ stability isn't as good as perhaps it should be. Go to Change Preferences/ Brightness Preferences and turn off the two check boxes - Mike |

My 730 does similar but only when it's running on batteries but not enough to irritate.
For night use, use a scheme with a really dark background (my "countryside" is black at night). This may stop it being so obvious. _________________ Gerry

Yep, those boxes are unchecked Mike just incase it was to do with them.
It does it on the day scheme but not as noticable as night.
Will give them a call back as they did mention returning the unit. _________________ TomTom Camper & Caravan Edition (Go1005)

Is the pulsing of the backlight taking place when the device throws a white text/ black back ground message on the top right of the screen - for example when selecting next track for the mp3 player with a remote control or connection to a mobile phone etc? - this is again quite normal - Mike |

Erm....Haven't noticed that Mike to be honest.
Will check when she brings it back tonight, good news is that it hasn't reset itself once since formatting it..
Just strange how I would've noticed the pulsing on mine, but its certainly noticable on hers. _________________ TomTom Camper & Caravan Edition (Go1005)

Shane,
Unless I'm mistaken you don't say which software version you have. If you mean a rather annoying notch-up, notch-down kind of effect as if it's constantly misadjusting the brightness I had exactly this in some previous version (can't remeber which) but it was fixed after updating to the 'work' version as suggested by Mike Alder and certainly isn't present in this weeks new release which seems pretty stable. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Ahh Sorry,
Both 520's should be running
App's 8.302 (9738/090225)
UK & ROI 815.2003
GPS 1.20
Could try another install?
Oh it does it in 'Demo' mode as well, whereas mine doesn't. _________________ TomTom Camper & Caravan Edition (Go1005)
