| The Europe database includes safety cameras for Switzerland. Are PocketGPSWorld aware that a in Switzerland satnavs with safety camera data installed are illegal? In fact I understand that they are very strict about this and if you are found with satnav with camera data, where in use or not, it will be confiscated. |

The swiss cameras have been removed from the database since this law was introduced. As stated on the camera download page
'EUR does not include UK!
SWISS cameras are NOT included in the EUR files!'

According to your details of cameras by country (clickable link on the safety camera page) they still are. |

You are right, it does list them as being included. This is an error. The cameras are NOT included in the database. I will forward a message to the relevant people.

The drop down box on the submission page has the option 'Switzerland'
BUT
there are no cameras marked on the latest database release file Garmin .gdb and they have been missing for some time because their inclusion in any device is illegal.
I went to Switzerland two years ago with the cameras marked [I think there were only 5 or 6] it was not illegal then - I think!!!

I think that's deliberate....
You can still submit camera reports, just in case the law changes.
(and if you've got a good memory, you could look at the map before you go.....  ) |

Exactly. Because it is illegal to have them and the Swiss Police do check we have chosen not to offer them. The situation may change though and so we still collate reports (and still get them regularly).

Maybe...
Everyone sees all the confirmed cameras, and that's what I was thinking of....
Probably only the ones in the public release though.
I haven't looked to see if I can see the Swiss cameras too! (I wouldn't know where to look, it's a big place....) |
