I've found that if you don't close WinZip (or even just the zip folder if using Vista), then it won't download the new ones correctly on the second download.
Close WinZip first, before downloading the second set of POIs, and it usually works for me. |

I know that this thread has probably gone a bit cold, but I have never experienced this type of problem.
I use WinRAR. When my download has finished, WinRAR opens, then I choose "Extract to" and browse to the map folder in the TomTom, click OK and it just happens.
I know how frustrating it can be when a simple question does not have a simple answer.
Might be worth getting WinRAR instead of WinZip. _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

With Firefox, I can download one zip file and it will be named POI.zip If I do not delete the downloaded file and download another one, it will be named POI (2).zip, the next will be POI (3).zip etc so I have to ensure that I open the correct one each time. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Hello Richard,
When I download (with Firefox) I select "Open with WinRar.ZIP" and it opens showing me the ov.2 and .bmp files that I have chosen. I am trying different things at the moment and have noticed that the WinRAR Archives are indeed named POIs-1.zip, POIs-2.zip etc.etc.
I think what you need to try is after you have downloaded whichever category you need, extract it immediately to your map folder in the TT. After that, close your ZIP archive. The next download that you do, will automatically open just what you have selected and nothing else. Your previous history is still there, just that it will not open, unless you go looking for it.
I hope that this makes sense to you, see how you get on. _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

Hi Tom,59 yes, I normally delete as soon as I have uploaded the files to my TT, but I was trying to assist Sam1970 as I believe he tries to open the first zip file, rather than the latest one downloaded. The file name changes may help in the identification of the correct file.
I do not have the issue reported. _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |
