|

Hi just downloaded the latest camera database on to my computer, have docked my tom tom, switched it on but my computer will not recognise it, I just get the message USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED.
This is the first time Ive tried connecting the tom tom to the computer since the last camera database download, also since pressing the reset button.
Any Ideas on what to do.
Please help. |

I had exactly the same issue last week with my 540. Ended up by putting a micro SD card into the vacant slot and then the computer recognised the unit. Then I uploaded a backup that I had previously made to the unit (not the sd card) overwriting the software and I was then back to normal.
I use the 540 to control my Ipod and output to the car sound system and can only presume this had corrupted the primary drive somehow.
Hope you get yours sorted. |

Got it sorted
The problem was whilst the Tom Tom was connected to the computer I also had a seperat sd card connect in a seperate usb. As soon as I removed this my computer recognised the tom tom instantly. |

What you've realized is that the unit attempts to consider the sd card as external storage, regardless of whether the sd card is within the unit or in a card reader.
A bonus of this is the fact that if you are installing something on the sd card, it often goes faster if it is in a card reader where transfer is usually faster because today's card readers are usb 2.0 compliant whereas it is only at the 1.1 level when within the unit itself. _________________ David |
