|
Ok last night I connected my nuvi 760 to the pc to perform a speed camera update. But when I unplugged it the nuvi wont boot up it gets to loading maps then resets, I tried to connect it to the pc but it won’t connect. If I put the SD card in it will then boot up but still won’t connect to the pc.
I'm sure this has nothing to do with the speed camera update at all.
When I went in the maintenance mode it says all my files have been deleted
Has anyone had this happen and how did you fix it?
Edit:
I would like to add I do have a backup of all my files. Also if I put the Nuvi in "lock" mode and have it connected to the pc, then press and hole a finger on the screen you can hear it connect but you can't see the drive. It will also charge from the USB but will not let me access the drive.
I have sent Garmin an e-mail so I hope they can help Monday. |

Just spoke to Garmin, they said the Nuvi is unfixable, and they can send me a refurbished one for £107 which would not include the latest maps. So my nuvi is bricked. Instead of paying the £107 I told her I may as well spend a little more and get a brand new one with the new maps. Maybe time to go tomtom

is this the one with the pirated maps installed?
if so then perhaps it's something to do with that...? and we won't assist, i doubt garmin would either.
sorry, but we have a zero-tolerance policy regarding piracy.

no this one does not have any pirated maps on it was still running the 2009 maps not 2009.1 And I don’t think you could assist me because Garmin said once the data is gone, and it won’t connect to the PC there is no way you can get it to work. Which is funny because I never deleted the files. Just a shame it’s only just out of warranty. |

Spoke to Garmin again this time they said they could fix it but will cost £24+VAT when I spoke to them on the phone they said they couldn't fix it and it would cost £107 but hey if they can do it for 24 I'm happy
The computer does communicate with the nuvi. What you do is turn the power button to lock then connect it to the pc and press a finger on the screen keep it pressed and then the computer will communicate and it will show up in device manager. But you can’t see it in my computer they must be a way to get the computer to show the drive so you can get init to put the files back.
Anyway it'll get fixed. and I must say I have learned a very good lesson. I'm still thinking of going tom-tom though I want to see how it compares to the Garmin model. |

I have the same problem with mine! Happened right after I installed the new 4.80 firmware.
Anyone know how to fix without sending back? |

You already have a thread running here so there's no need to resurrect an old thread to duplicate things.
