When I tried my bluetooth in my top shirt pocket it did not work satisfactorily. It would appear that the device requires to be able to locate satelites and if the position of the GPS is not correct then no accurate fix is available.

I've not found any problem with having my Emtac receiver in my pocket, or my backpack while on my mountain bike. In the car I've also used it under the seats (it fell there when I had to avoid some idiot sharpish) and I couldn't reach it. Still got 5 sats for most of the journey.

In your bag it should work fine.

As long as you are within the theoretical 10 metres you should be fine.
