You click on the Click Here under the Voice Name and then click on the database type you are using on the following page. Then the file downloads.
Many others have succeeded. In fact you have just said the following here
Quote: | the one on the site does not work and i am positive i posted it correctly in my voice files |
So did you get it downloaded or not? |

Click the 'CLICK HERE' link for your chosen voice then click the button for your the database you have installed. All works fine as can be seen by the many members here using it!
However as you aren't a subscriber I'd have to ask where you got the database? As you haven't paid for it you've a bit of a cheek asking for help in using it. _________________ Darren Griffin |

First, please calm down and stop shouting.
Hundreds of other people have installed the voices without problems, so let's try to find out what you are doing wrong....
Without anything else to go on, lets assume you have a TomTom and are going to this page:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/speed-camera-alerts-tomtom.php
Taking one at random, lets go to "Text to Speech - Simon".
If I click on the "Play sample" link on the left it downloads and then plays an example of the voice so I can hear what to expect. Your browser may behave differently.
If I then click on the "Click Here" link it takes me to the downloads page for the three available versions for this voice - voice only, or with two different bleeps at the front of the voice.
As this voice set only has files for the speed-zoned database version, there are three buttons labelled "Speedzoned" on the right.
Clicking any one of these downloads the files as a "zipped" archive file (as is common practice on the web to make downloads smaller and faster).
All of those downloads will extract the relevant files with a simple right click. Following the install intructions you are then told to copy those files into the same named map folder as you put the camera database files themselves.
How is your experience different. Maybe there is an instruction that we could make clearer? |

|
|
Hi All
I have downloaded the latest speed camera database, and chose the uk Speed zoned - complete option. I then download the voice speed alert for speed zone option. This works fine but i was curious when i clicked here underneath the photos of those that provided the voices i could only see one option and that was speed zone. I cannot see the options to download other variants such as consolidated for those that use that version of speed camera alerts as i understand that these voice alerts need to be the same as the speed camera database type.
Also do the voices alerts get updated and can we continue to same the same ones ?
Please help i was just curious.
Regards
Letmeboogey |

Some voices support the full range of database types, some only one or two.

The voices do not need to be updated but we regularly add additional voices and update existing voices to support more database types where we are able. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have a 520.
I installed the spoken sound effects but am not too keen on them, problem is that I can not revert back to the old sounds!!
Can you point me in the right direction please! |

If you copied the voice files into your map folder, just delete them (make a backup first) and go back into the "warn when near" function to get the original options back. _________________ Gerry

Thanks for that. I didn't think it'd be that straight forward! |

I installed the Vicki Archer voice but realised I just prefer a warning sound instead. |

Hi Guys,
So i just subscribed to the cams.
Downloaded UK speed zoned complete.
Then found the Kate voice file (ogg) from on here, the one without chime option.
All copied to my device (Go920) and then went through set up.
So my problem, when i get to the warn when near POI, i choose the relevant POI, set the distance then select "sound effect" and it gives me all the default options....Bell 1 Beep 1 etc, which am i supposed to chose to get the custom ogg files to work?
Neil
FYI, its the latest map 825, latest app 8.302 and yes the cam files and ogg files are in the WE map folder. _________________ Go 720 v8.351 GPS v1.20 Boot 5.5120

If you have installed as per our recommended method you wouldn't see those options. It would just say 'Is this the sound you want?'.
The installation instructions are at the bottom of the main page here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

From what i can see i have followed all the instructions.
Here is a cap from my map file:-
Clearly shows POI's and ogg files in same folder.
Still it asks me for a sound after i choose "sound effect"
Any idea's??? _________________ Go 720 v8.351 GPS v1.20 Boot 5.5120
