For the many who seem to need a hasty dash, could you integrate it with the speed camera POIs, so they can have a speed camera free route calculated. |

As a child of parents who are getting on a bit, I spent quite some time finding public toilets in various towns of New Zealand when i took them there for a holiday.
I will read up on how to post them. They can be confirmed using the Wises online maps http://www.wises.co.nz/ or the very good Kiwimaps road atlases.
EDIT: Posted first antipodean one, so will continue to post all the ones I can remember! |

A star rating has been mentioned a couple of times.
Is it worth giving a rating in the comments field as the POIs are added? This could save a lot of work if/when a star system is used later.
I'd consider the award along the lines of 'how desperate would my Wife / Mother need to be to use the facilities?' |

I have submitted a few myself. Most gratifying to note that when this was first announced, I believe there were less than 500 in the POI file and now there are almost 1100.
From a purely selfish point of view, I hope we build them up to as many as we have cameras. _________________ Dennis

Thanks for all your feedback and submissions so far, we're considering all options from keeping it as it is, i.e. simple, to the varying degrees of complication
Dennis, in fact there were only 279 on the day of the announcement, so maybe even better progress than you thought.
Thanks go to Oldie and Oldboy who have been inundated with all the extra submissions! _________________ Robert Brady |

Ye Gods and little fishes! 900 additions in this short time? Unbelievable. That's 100 a day. Thank you all who handle it. Thank you all who submit. Just as with the cameras, I never know where I'm going "tomorrow" and I'm at the age where growing incompetence makes this database increasingly important to me! _________________ Dennis

For those who are wondering why an aircraft radome might be required in a public bog, relax... RADAR in this case means "Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation" ;) _________________ Roger, G1LIW

I think this is a brilliant concept. I too, like George, sometimes have an urgent need for a loo. In times of particular need the 'quality' of the loo is not an issue, just its location!
Further to the categories of loo, could this not be covered by its icon? An establised icon with colour differences or additional codes underneath would tell you what to look for to cope with your particular need. For instance D for department store; G, garage; C, council; P, paid for; and possibly E for emergency (iffy quality but it is a loo!)

The team have been swayed to the keeping it simple argument.
The workload has increased dramatically for Oldie and Oldboy, and unfortunately the numbers of submission errors which have to be edited by hand is burdensome. If we made the system even more complicated, it might soon become unmanageable.
Bearing in mind that we're being asked to push other initiatives such as low bridges and width restrictions there will only be enough time in the day to do so much.
With this in mind we'll stick with the status quo. All your feedback on the subject was much appreciated though and it doesn't mean to say that we might not consider the matter again in the future.
Keep those submissions coming... since the new push, we've quadrupled the database which now has almost 1200 locations! _________________ Robert Brady |
