Hi Guys
I've just got a new Go 520. I've loaded some Mp3 tracks onto the SD card but the TT only recognises the demo tracks on the unit itself.
What am I doing wrong - or do all the Mp3 tracks need to be on the unit?
If so, what is the SD card used for?
Any help gratefully received!!!

In the root of the SD card place a folder named "mp3" (all lower case and without the "") put the mp3 audio tracks into this folder and the device3 will find the music - Mike |

Hi Mike
I've tried it with "Mp3" as on the device, and "mp3" as you suggested and I still only get the demo tracks!!
Do I need to delete the Mp3 folder from the device?
Regards

No you don't need to delete the built in mp3 folder resident on the Flash Memory, both mp3 folders (the one on the SD card and the built in memory) can co exist.
It is possible that the card you are using is too slow and therefore being rejected (ignored) by the TomTom - as long as the mp3 folder is present in the root of the memory card the device should see it, as long as the card is of sufficiant speed, try another card if you have one to hand - Mike |

Hi Mike
I don't have another SD card handy - but it now works!!!
All I did was to copy one track from the SD card to the device and it suddenly recognised all the tracks on the card!
Weird!!
What size and spec of SD card would you recommend for a 520?
Thanks for your help

The size of the card depends upon how much music you want to put on the unit, I tend to use 8GB as these offer enough space for some maps and music. With the latest software installed to the device you can use cards up to and including 32GB capacity.
From time to time I also use a 6GB SDHC Micro SD card via an addaptor, this type of card "Micro SD" is a more future proof solution than using just SD cards, whilst they need addaptors which they are supplied with, they work well in the TomTom and the same card will fit most mobile phones and the newer TomTom Go-x40 product line - Mike |

Hi Mike
Thanks for the tip about the Micro SD cards - I think that is the way I will go as my phone uses that type of card.
