Did anyone see the report on BBC Breakfast today? It was about this small town in Yorkshire (I think - it may have been a bit further North - I was rushing around trying to get to work at the time).
They had had the snow, then had a gas supply failure. The gas company supplied electric heaters to affected homes. Users turned them on which promptly cut off the electricity supply to the place. This was restored but the next day the electricity failed again due to a line being down.
The interviewer asked the local councillor why he wasn't raving at the supply companies and he said that (and I paraphrase) "we are much more stoic up here, the companies are doing everything correctly to get things sorted". He didn't quite say soft southerners - but the studio team did! Wonderful stuff. _________________ Phil

I saw that just before going out - may have been a different part as I didn't see an interviewee. He was saying that he was a bit of a soft sotherner for wearing a thick coat when the temperature had rose to -4C. At least he wasn't wearing a hat. _________________ Gerry
