I'm in North Hants and we had none at 2030hrs

I'm in south Hants and we had snow all day - admittedly, it was only a few flakes much of the day, but visibility dropped to less than a mile during the afternoon while it snowed a little heavier.

Today, the roads are all covered in snow and ice because last night's snow was unexpected!!!

Nothing on the West Coast of Pembrokeshire yet, but a lot of shipping in the Irish Sea is stuck in snow drifts! Very Happy

They are still waiting for the snow ploughs and gritters. Embarassed

TomTom press release:
Quote:
TomTom HD Traffic shows 1,086 miles of traffic in UK at 08.28 this morning

Worst snow for 13 years causes chaos on UK roads with 388 traffic jams on major roads

2 February 2009: Britain experienced the worst snow for years overnight and caused traffic chaos across the country this morning.

TomTom’s HD Traffic, a live traffic service updated every three minutes, showed 1,086 miles of traffic at 08.28 this morning on major roads, with the longest queue being 32 miles at 07.30 on the M25 (between J19 Watford and J8 Reigate).

On the M27 at 08.02, there were delays of 1 hour and 27 minutes between Junction 11 (Fareham) and the M3 interchange, making it the longest jam in terms of time waiting.

TomTom High Definition (HD) Traffic is available on the TomTom GO LIVE range of satellite navigation devices.

Less than a mile, eh? I bet that every man and his dog still put every available foglight on, though. Evil or Very Mad

The snow here was bad enough to stop me going to work this morning. It took me nearly half an hour to get four miles and I turned tound and came home again, after lestening to the M25 traffic reports on the radio.

It's just as well I did, really, since Mina is away and the children's school is closed today due to the weather.

bradford (west yorks) about an inch over night but quite breezy so some ddrifts up to 2 feet in places.

as usual, everyone knew it was going to snow except the council so some roads are a bit lethal...!

It's snowing on and off in Birmingham with a few inches settled. Nice that the bus broke down so had to walk the rest of the way this morning. Was nice and white by the time I got to the office. The "snowmen" had arrived.

Going at 1 as it's supposed to be getting worse (or so the boss who couldn't make it in this morning has said). Rolling Eyes Wink

Dunno - I was looking out to sea as a voluntary Watchkeeper with National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) and visibility was so poor in Portsmouth Harbour the fog procedure were introduced.

The schools are open, but roads are still just a sheet of ice - even bus routes haven't been gritted

Scientists have found that no two snowflakes are alike, so it goes without saying that northern snowflakes are more 'aaaaaaaard than softy southern ones Laughing Laughing

Are you channeling my Mother In Law? Shocked

TBH i don't remeber it ever being this heavy. 8 inches of snow overnight, not just the side and minor roads blocked but the main ones too. It's quite hilly where we are so as soon as you stop moving going up hill you are stuffed......
