|
|
Just wondered where the snow is falling/sticking this weekend.
I'm in North Hants and we had none at 2030hrs but a peek out of the window 40mins later and it was all white and yet no snow falling so we'd had a light dusting very quickly in between!
Our daughters school has already put us on notice that it may be closed tomorrow if the predicted weather materialises, good 'ol UK, a bit of snow and everything grinds to a halt! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Rainham, Kent about 1 to 1.5 inches, my mate lives at the top end of Strrod, near the start of the M2, and said they've had a couple of inches.
Haven't seen any gritters around yet and the outside temp. is -1, so could be a few mishaps. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Steady lightish snow near the East Sussex coast on and off since this afternoon. About an inch and a half laying at the moment. _________________ Anita

Very fine snow, not yet covering the pavements. The lawn is almost all white up here in Rainhill, between Liverpool & Warrington.
Slight falling flurries now @ 22:04 _________________ Ric - TomTom 520 DEAD - Passed to the great traffic jam in the sky. Now using Maps & Waze on Samsung Galaxy S4 + CamerAlert of course! |

It hasn't reached Bristol (yet?). Darren wrote: | good 'ol UK, a bit of snow and everything grinds to a halt! | Only in southern softypants land! You'd find "up north" that they are accustomed to this sort of stuff and have highwaymen on standby from October to March, together with enough gear to deal with it - my mum's road at the back of some estate in a village outside Leeds was always ploughed clear. Down this way, my division had 2 converted ex mothballs desert rat Bedford three tonners (still with bren gun holes in the cab roof and wipers working off the exhaust manifold) for over 300 miles of roads (both directions, at 8mph - we used to let it melt instead!). Roughly once every seven years. _________________ Dennis

Our Highwaymen rob the 'southern softies' of their cash when they try and get 'oop north!' -----

Drove down to London from South Wales about 6pm, nothing until Swindon - very light flakes for about 4 mins, temp was showing -3.5C.
Then nothing until just outside Reading and Thiefrow, when it was blowing around like a good'un. Temp was showing -2C and it was sticking in all 3 lanes. In Northolt it continued on and off and we have a good few mms on the ground and sticking.
I live in a cul-de-sac, and as always it will be a nightmare to get out onto main road at 6.30 in the morning, usually drive up the road sideways. _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

4-5 inches in 3 hours. Sutton near Croydon.
Just spent an hour doing less than a mile in an attempt to pick up the kids from Gatwick Airport...... Every road from here is up hill and the gritters weren't out this morning. Cars are going up hill one at a time.... Kids left to their own devices at the Airport.... |

I have just travelled a long way and i looked at the overall map of tom tom hd traffic , and I could not find any warnings of accendients or delays on my 940, this is really bad, on my dab radio in my car, Traffic radio has everyone problem reported, show that road on tomtom hd traffic and its not reporting anything. its saying 9 problems , think there are a few more than that. Anyone know why tomtom are not reporting this as I write this it 5-25 am. |

2 - 3 inches here on the West Herts / Bucks border.
Schools shut.
Looks like an emergency call out only day. _________________ Mike
