I also do not see the need for voice radar warnings, but the original sounds are terrible. It can be fixed in data.zip/audio
change the following files in some better sounds
!alert5.wav
!sectionbeepB.wav
this are some sounds that are better
http://www2.gerbs.net/files/cartrek/2007/laser.wav
http://www2.gerbs.net/files/cartrek/2007/camera.wav
rename the downloaded files in the ones above
laser.wav to !sectionbeepB.wav
camera.wav to !alert5.wav
Maybe this can also be done in the Ultra-Skin. But that for Linknet to decide. |

I do !
and it was also fine, to disable warnings only for mobiles radars
There are countries where there is so many mobile radars, that Igo shouts all the time, very boring |

I am so lucky that i live in a part of the Netherlands where radars are not everywhere.
But i do not understand what you mean by mobile radar. That are radars which are hiding in cars??
If that is the case you should get better "radar files" which do not include mobile radar. |

Just for the record, I see no need for the voice warnings either. I only used them for a few days before turning them off altogether. So to put in a lot of work for something that I will never use and actually found to be a nuisance is a non-starter. So the voice files are committed to software history and gone forever.

Either in vans or sometimes just police hiding behind some bushes with a hand held radar speed detector. They get entered in the speedcam files for every different position the police use, consequently there are thousands of possible sites !!
I never use the mobile speed camera files, you just get too many false warnings.

But it remains interesting to get (only) the visual warning for this type of radar |

Where I live, for the whole county we only have mobile cameras, no fixed at all. So I need mobile warnings. If you know a route you know where to expect them. On unfamiliar routes it's good to be warned. They pick the sneakiest places! |

That is a real shame, I like to know that a camera is coming up, a voice telling me what speed it is for, etc, and also be able to configure them to disable mobile cameras, etc.
For this reason alone I will go back to using Gurjons skin. Thats a pitty, coz i really liked your skin last time around (v5.x).
I will keep an eye on the development of Ultra Skin, in case you decide to add it in the future. |

To defend the Ultra skin, it's high quality is the reason for it's vast popularity. That linknet sticks to his principles for what he thinks is best for the skin is a great asset. All other skins, to me anyway, end up looking low quality and tatty. Way too many options and low quality graphics. imho Ultra stands head and shoulders above every other skin.
PS Kicker is pretty good, although it is an Ultra clone. Only it adds another bottom bar that you can't configure off??? |

Pitty. I realy liked it and used it 'back in the v5.x days'. I used kikker's skin for a while but of course switched back to Ultra as it is the skin for iGO8. Still I hope to see the voice warnings (and all other fueatures) back again some day. Maybe in Ultra or maybe kikker will implement them.
Anyways, thanks for a wonderfull skin, glad you back!
Cheers,

Agreed, but a visual only warning for those is still interesting, cause at least if you are careful, you can be warned
Itīs true that warning sounds for mobile cameras makes my wife crazy
So ok, letīs forget voices for alerts ( ), and letīs use a beep, I donīt care |

The standard iGO8 warnings will give you that anyway. They also automatically adjust the prior warning distance according to your current speed, I used fixed prior warning distances in v5.0 only adjustable via the menus.
So you gain some and you lose some !!!

To match the on screen overspeed warning which is on a transparent background and wouldn't show up very well in yellow.

Just for info linknet.. Choup has some interesting takes on the poor visibility of the signpost directional arrows:
Bigger arrows:
Crossed out big arrows (my wife's fave):
& coloured big arrows:
Dimka did the both direction arrow sets together.. looking quite cluttered:
and finally..
I put togeher a new loading.bmp as I was getting a little tired of the original should anyone like it. Hope you don't mind:
