My 15 month old Nuvi 660 has just stopped talking to me completely. NO sound from Bluetooth, music, or any prompts or notifications.
Any ideas please |

Hi that sounds as it's got a cold. The only thing that I can think of at the minute is have you tried a reset, that may cure it. Failing that send an email to Garmin for an answer.

Its more than likely the speaker gone bad.
Happened to me and a very kind member gave me a speaker that fitted.
If you do a search on this forum, you will see the information you require.
You can repair it yourself quite easily, however the casing needs dismantling in a orderly fashion, so you dont damage the internals.
Garmin wanted to charge me £125 for the repair.
In the end it shoudl only cost you the price of the speaker.
Incidentally, the speaker is a special 1watt 38mm diameter aprrox 5mm thick.
Whe you have fitted the replacement speaker do not use the volume any more than 80% and it should last a lot longer.
Hope this helps

Can you get anything out of the line-out socket (this should drive a standard pair of headphones) or via FM?
If nothing on anything then it sounds (pun not really intended) a bit more serious than the speaker.
Take a full backup of the unit
Check all your settings carefully - just in case you have inadvertently turned something off.
Then try to reset the device. If this doesn't do anything try doing a factory reset which will take your unit back to the out-of-the-box settings and will erase favourites etc - but you should be able to recover these from the backup.
EDITEd to add...
The usual suspect is the MUTE setting. Touch the on/off button and the volume settings should be displayed. There is a check box on here that will disable all sounds. Also check the volume level hasn't been set to Zero _________________ Phil |

Phils,
Thanks for the tips. I have tried the reset on the bck of the unit to no avail, but the line socket is working, so it must be the speaker.
One other question, how do you get into the case. I can see no slots to release clips and no screws.
Thanks
