Actually the Active Dock with iPod Support hasn't. The active dock for fixed install was available before Christmas but the windscreen mount dock with iPod support wasn't for some bizarre reason.
So it is new.

Could anybody solve this for me?
This is from the tomtom site describing the new active ipod mount.
Quote: | Listen to music and voice instruction over your car stereo using the line-out on the dock. (audio cable not included).
|
With only one socket how can you have the ipod connected to your device and line out to your stereo, at the same time?
Is ther a twin splitter jack cable available?
Many Thanks
Ian |

When you use the version with the RDS TMC receiver, can this be disabled so HD traffic is used in preference and how do you do this?
If you plug an existing TMC in the x40 range it disables the HD Traffic. _________________ Drivelux |

£50 for the mount with rds traffic is not bad given the price for individual components. I'd note though that its now disappeared from that page... |

If you use the RDS-TMC mount the device will use HD Traffic when it can get a signal and is within the country of intended use. Lose the HD signal due to server issues or poor signal coverage of the Vodafone network the unit switches to the RDS-TMC, it will auto switch back to HD once the signal returns or the issue preventing data is resolved.
Should you take the unit out of the UK assuming you bought the x40 here then it will switch to RDS-TMC then switch back to HD mode once you return to this country - Mike |

There are two sockets, iPod and Line Out. See image below:

Also the range of movement possible on the ball joint is quite a lot less then on the standard mounts.
With the sucker on a flat horizontal surface, and the mounting shoe swivelled as far as it will go, the screen is still tilted back at about 20-25 degrees, so there might well be reflection problems. |

No phone is required. The RDS-TMC is either built-in or uses an external receiver. _________________ Tim |

Are you just referring to the RDS_TMC version here as this will rule out this mount for me as I need around 5 degrees angle for optimal viewing on a dash mount.
Also the instructions saying that the aerial must be extended fully downwards makes me think that it could not be if mounted on top of the dash as there is only around 5cm clearance between the base of the faceplate and the dash.
Could this mount be cannibalised with an original to give more movement? _________________ Drivelux |
