|
|
ive just sold my very trusty and reliable tt rider v1 ,the reason being it was too hefty and weighed a ton, another reason ive bought a new motor bike and there was just no where to mount it ,i have looked at other bike gps but there not much smaller and very expensive,i have looked at the pda route but there not waterproof nor as rugged and against a stand alone gps sysyetm there not that good ,which leads me to this question, ive been looking at the handheld type gps the one hikers use and they seem to fit the bill for what i want small rugged waterproof ,but the mapping caters more for walking the fells and not navigating manchester ,so is it possible to upload tomtom style maps to these recievers ,to get street by street directions like i did when i had my tom tom ,sorry if this is a dumb question but ive searched the web without success
cheers ged |

There are options but how would they be any easier to mount on a bike? No BT Audio either! _________________ Darren Griffin |

No BT Audio either! | easier because of there shape and weight ,i have got a pda at the moment and it will fit fine but as a gps device its almost useless ,hence i want to go back to a dedicated gps unit, but somthing the size and shape [oblong] ,of a sat phone handheld device, but the mapping and instructions are like tomtom, and not o/s
i have just seen a unit on ebay by snooper dont know anything about the brand and i dont think its waterproof |

Devices such as Garmin's Oregon can have routable road mapping installed and are waterproof but you'll get no audio and to be honest you'll be disappointed.
I'm surprised you find them so difficult to find room for? Can't imagine a bike too small for one! _________________ Darren Griffin |

You, got a RIDER 1 and 2.

I honestly can't think of one that I could recommend other than one of the Garmin Zumo's or a RIDER.
Let's see what others can came up with! _________________ Darren Griffin |

It's a rather old satnav! I'm not trying to be awkward here but that's even wider than a RIDER so why would that be easier to accommodate? _________________ Darren Griffin |
