i tried your editing fix,
but my tomtom fails to lock onto a FM signal,
eventually it times out and says something like...
'TMC is unavailable'.
any more suggestions?
i have an earlier reply on another post about reverting back to 8.1, that i may try if you can't suggest something else. still waiting for tomtom second line support to sort my 'no blue sea' problem out, the say i have the wrong map, but i was unable to download a fixed one using my map guarantee option?
so it's back to tomtom support, i'm not expecting any quick fixes, from them:)
regards,

Gary, can you let me know the details presented on screen when you tap the sat strength meter followed by the version box, don't post the device ID code but the full map name and all the other numbers next to it would be handy - Mike |

You have two issues here:
Firstly the LMG failed to work for whatever reason, you will have to take this up with TomTom using their UK Support phone number 0845 161 0009 if your device is a recent purchase within the MG 30 day period you should have version 815 maps on the device.
Secondly, unless you get the v815 mapping there is no point in using the Navcore 8,300 software on your device as it offers nothing at all that is of use. Roll the device back to Navcore 8,010 as detailed in the other thread and I am sure the RDS-TMC will come back to life - Mike |

well i rolled back to 8.1,
no joy with the rds/tmc it times out doesn't find a signal,
I'll go out and drive round a bit see if that helps (although the signal was strong enough at home)
is there a utility that checks the continuity of the tmc unit, i get the messga e 'flashing up' when it's 'plugged in', would i get that if any of the contacts were NOT making contact ar any of the wires were broken?
is the infamous 'mctx' file going to be an issue? i changed it to 22220, do i change it back?
map still doesn't show sea as blue, still waiting for tomtom on that one.
any idea where the favourites are stored, so i can transfer then across from a backup?
thanks for your time.

Map Colours - try a different colour scheme?
Favourites - see HERE for a recently updated writeup I did of the various methods available. |
