Hello to all. I am currently using a Garmin and am considering moving over to the LIVE range. However, I have a major concern over the HD method. If I chose not to continue with the subscription after three months does the satnav have an alternative built in traffic system? My apologies if this has already been dicussed; I couldn't find it. Thank you. _________________ Dabri.

If you do not want the live features there is little point in going for the X40.
You can use TMC traffic on it but not standard (non-HD) GPRS traffic. _________________ Drivelux |

Hi all
I have had my eye on the new 940 for some time now as I have 2 720's and both had the problem with Nav core 8.3 and the speach......
Tom Tom wanted £70 each to update these to the new mapping so I thought the Iphone still has no TomTom on it so I will upgrade my 720 with the 940 Live.
Price is Dixons are doing the 940 for £316.00 if you put this code in "SALE25" if you knock off the £50 petrol that's a total of £266.00 for a 940 live
"how the mighty have fallen"
Mine is on its way to me all I need now is my 720 sorted but I may send it back to TomTom as they broke it ........!!!!!!!
Any body out there want to swap a 720 with TMC reciver and brodit mount for a Rider V2??????? mail me at terrydingley@hotmail.co.uk

It would appear that the TT940 live services trial lasts 2 months, I lost my services exactly 2 months after starting my TT, from what I can see the text in the //simcard/mobility.sim file is wiped every time I start it, it doesn't matter if the device is restored, the text cut/pasted from the backup, this is despite paying for the live subscription. And why is it you can never get through to TomTom .
If I wanted a PND without traffic etc I'd've stuck with my trusty Go500.

Phone them up on Monday morning using 0845 161 009 and ask them why it has expired, you should get three months os use from this before you need to pay anything - Mike |

I was just looking at the Features comparison table at http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-x40-range-explained-t2910.php and notice that it says postcode navigation is only available for UK and NL. Is this true?! I've never had a Tom Tom so don't know if this is usual but on my other machines I use post codes a lot - useful particularly in France. |

Wow, I am amazed they took out the MP3 player and FM Transmitter from the 540 and 740. I can understand them not including those things on the TT One but on the £250+ models they really should be standard. Very strange decision Tomtom!
If youre not using the LIVE stuff the best value option seems to go for a 520 or 530 I guess and use the latest map guarantee. |

TomTom has only ever offered PostCode data for UK and NL.
As I understood it, only UK and Holland have PostCode data accurate enough for the purpose? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi,
the zip-codes for UK and NL are special as in both countries there are lots of houses without numbers thats why TT offers a ZIP-folder for those countries.
For any other country you can use the postcode as well - just type it in when the device asks for the town.
