x20, x30 or the x40 if you purchase an accessory mount, but the phone hands free function will only play through the built in speaker. When you mention int files do you mean the TomTom Itinerary format "itn" if so all the devices within each product range mentioned above will support this - Mike |

All x20's and x30's. x40's also have it although I forget now if it needs the 'full feature' cradle option. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Why won't line out work with the hands free function? I thought it was only the FM transmitter that had been disabled? |

You are quite correct that the FM Tx has been disabled for the spoken navigation instructions but the mobile phone hands free audio has never been available (officially) via anything other than the built in speaker.
I used the word "officially" above, there was a way to route the phone audio to the external connections but as soon as it was discovered TomTom disabled this loophole at the next software upgrade (this was around two years ago IIRC).
Short of cracking the device open and messing around connecting wires that should go to the inbuilt speaker to an external socket and impedance matching circuit/ attenuation there is nothing you can do - Mike |

And their reasoning for this is? (no line out for instructions?)
So can you play music through the line out? |

You can still use Line Out for both the Navigation instructions and the music, plug an external FM transmitter in to the line out socket and you have the wireless transmission back.
I prefer to use the Bluetooth HiFi audio output to the stereo in the car as the quality is much better and it never suffers from interference like the FM Tx does - Mike |

No good for me as my aerial is on the back of my car and I get poor fm transmitter reception. Besides kind of defeats the object of line out. And my car stereo doesn't have bluetooth. |

Just to reiterate... The Line out DOES support Navigation Instructions (and Music). It's just the incoming telephone calls that will only go to the internal speaker. I think it is something to do with the Licensing or the technical setup of the echo cancellation software from another company (Acoustic Technologies Inc.) |
