How does one do this since the current maps nearly fill the device. Do I need to delete Western Europe ? _________________ Tony

I wouldnt first make a full windows explorer backup of the entire device. Once this is done, simply delete the western europe folder, and then use tthome to purchase the new map. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

Purchase a Micro SD memory card and insert that to the device, install the USA map to the memory card rather than the internal flash memory.
If you need the USA map though it would have probably been cheaper to purchase the higher spec 940 - if you can swap the device I would consider this rather than adding memory cards and maps - Mike |

I hadn't realised that it will take a memory card - does it fit down the side of the docking connector underneath ?
Also, I've only got one possible American trip in the next year, I still have my 910 which has American maps, may just take that. Or alternatively, could just rent a car with SatNav when there. _________________ Tony

Put the device screen side down on the table and look at the base of the device, there is a slot to the left of center, this is for the memory card.
The device uses TransFlash or more commonly known as MicroSD, you can use the SDHC type of this card up to 32GB in size, if all you want is space for a USA map then 2GB would be fine - Mike |
