Hello I've got a New TomTom 730 traffic, which I think is brilliant. I would love to install POi's onto the SD card rather than the internal memory because that is almost full with it's own applications. I like the POi's on TomTom Home.
Could somebody explain in English for me please?? I'm fairly computer literate, but only with the usual "Office" applications.
Could some kind sole post a step-by-step instructions on here so that even a simpleton like me can understand.
I would be extrmely grateful and I daresay a fair few others as well! Thanks in advance.

POI files MUST be placed into the map folder, you can move the map folder to an SD card where it will work.

That said POI file are very small in terms of file size and you can only put around 160 individual custom POI Categories on to the unit before you hit the upper limit. Each category can contain thousands of individual locations though.

How much space is available on the internal storage, and don't forget the card in the slot when new is a blank piece of plastic, if you need to put the map on the SD card purchase a decent speed SD or SDHC card - Mike

As Mike says, the POI files are tiny, so you will be able to fit a lot onto your existing set-up on the internal memory.
If you install them from Home, then Home will put them in the right place.

There are rather BETTER ones available from elsewhere, though.
The ones from this site are good. See HERE
To install those (and most things actually) you use Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) and some instructions to install them are on the right hand side of that page.

If you really want to move the map onto a card, you use Explorer again.
It is just the same as moving any file from one place to another on your computer.

You need to BACKUP everything first (AGAIN using Explorer, not TT Home). Instructions for that are in the FAQs you'll find in the TomTom forum section HERE.

Once you've done that, buy an SD card (2 or 4GB is best) and use Explorer to highlight the entire map folder (called "Western_Europe" or similar) and move it to the card.
If you've ever moved files around on your PC, it should be simple, but if you need real step-by-step instructions, I think there may be a tutorial somewhere, or I can elaborate when I get back from being dragged out shopping.
