It really bugs me what manufacturers want to charge for accessories.
Any recommendations for a case for the x20? I had hoped the Nintendo DS Lite EVA case would fit but it's just a little too small. I like the idea of EVA as it gives the screen some protection against impact damage in the glovebox. |

Dunno what "EVA" is, but I use the 'official' DS Lite cases from 'Game' shops.
They often seem to have them with embroidered figures on them, but you can also get them in plain black and grey amongst other colours.
Both my 720 and 940 fit fine.
They seem to have some reinforcing inside to protect the screen, even though the DS wouldn't need it! |

I've recently bought a 720 (from totalpda.co.uk) and I am still using a Jiffy Bag! They are cheap, readily available (most Post Offices/High Street stationers) and offer great screen protection. Not much good in the rain - but I don't use it outside. I also don't leave it in the glove compartment - it slips into my coat pocket or briefcase. _________________ Phil |

I'm looking for a suitable case for my 720 as well - but a 'Jiffybag' was not something I had even thought about! _________________ Triumph Tbird 1700. And now a Bonnie T100. |

It's what the 4gamers DS Lite cases are made from as well as (I believe) the official TomTom £20 rip-off.
I guess the Nintendo cases are a little larger, I'll have to find one to try thanks. |

Mine came fixed to a card that hangs on those hooks you get in shops, rather than in a box. This means you can try before you buy, without having to break a box open.
Also worth checking the bargain bin. |

Thanks for that but I prefer something that fully encloses the device. |

John | No, it means the seller has either posted the wrong pic or doesn't have a pic showing the x20. |

Hi dennisf
I purchased a case like yours and value for money it would be hard to beat. Just £5 and free p&p. Great value. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I bought one of these at the beginning of 2008 and it works just fine - I keep my TomTom 520 in it all the time. I actually kept the bit of foam it was shipped with, as it adds a nice bit of padding. It's been dropped several tims while carrying my TT and it has survived fine.

Ignore the picture of the non-Go model TomTom - the case works fine with the Go 520/720/920 and presumably also the x30/x40 range.
[this text is for in a few years time when the above link is outdated: auction title "Black Carry Case Bag Pouch Holder for Tomtom 520 720" by seller "superdog5000"]
edit: huh... the link by dennisf was to an auction by the same seller for a different style of case. |

I use this case made by pdair
It has room for 2 sd cards and you never need to remove it from the case in normal use. |

Rick, Do you know if you have to remove the TomTom from the case to use with the supplied mount? or can you get away with leaving the case on when using on the tomtom supplied mount? |

All the sockets and the mounting point are available while it is still in the case. The only time I have to remove it is if I need to change the SD card.
Other images showing mount in use here
Although you can use the TT supplied windscreen mount you would not be able to use the desk stand or a similar type of car mount |
