Pocket GPS are delighted to announce an arrangement with the Russian GPS website GPS Club that allows us to offer Russian Speed Camera Alerts free with our standard, fleet and bulk license packages.
The database contains 2298 fixed and mobile camera locations and is available for our members to download from the next database release (7th January 2009). The cameras are part of the European database download.
As usual, we ask our community to help us keep the data as up to date as possible. Please click here to add new cameras and change or remove existing cameras.
We are continuing to award dozens of FREE life memberships every month for verified new speed camera spottings. Free lifetime downloads are easily achievable - the criteria for safety camera submissions that qualify for lifetime membership was significantly expanded in March 2008.
This includes:
* The first subscriber to accurately report a new fixed site.
* The first subscriber to accurately report a change to an existing fixed site i.e. change of type, correction of location, move etc.
* The first subscriber to accurately report a permanent removal of an existing fixed site.
* The first subscriber to report a speed correction or submission of speed data where none previously existed for a fixed site.
* New subscriber reports of mobile sites will also now qualify, but because such sites are very difficult to verify, it should be noted that validation may take significantly longer than for other types of site.
We'll let you know if your submission is successfully verified and automatically extend your current membership. There is no need to send us an email to check, it WILL happen automatically.
For reports of any camera outside of the UK, you do not have to have an active subscription to be eligible for a lifetime subscription.

It's possible to read that site (http://www.gps-club.ru/) via Google translation, including the article that says the AA recommends you carry a paper map as well as GPS. ;)
PS. Enjoy your trips verifying the speed camera reports. |

Will the data base show the "Zil lanes" for government officials, if they still exist? |

I travelled for about a month around the Soviet Union 25 years ago and one of the most impressive sites I witnessed (I was young then!) was a motorcade of about 5 or 6 Zils travelling through central Moscow at about 60 mph with about 20 motorcycle outriders. You should have seen the traffic scatter!! _________________ Robert Brady |
