My charger for my Nuvi310 has an LED which is green amber or red. Does red or green mean it's charging? |

Does the charger have a part number as this sounds more like one with an integral RDS Traffic receiver such as the GTM-21 see Here - Mike |

Think the number on a label is 10R-02 6017, it's the one that came with it when new. Been having some trouble lately where the unit doesn't switch off properly. Often a light grey screen remains when the power is disconnected. The bluetooth connection to my phone remains live. The only way to wake the nav up again is to press and hold the power button then let go and press it again. It showed a low battery screen today while the LED was green. Tonight the LED is red, the nav shows that power is connected but I'm not sure if it's charging or not.
I did post about this problem a while ago but thought I had cured it by discharging the battery competely. It seemed to fix it for a while but the problem has now returned |

Can't find that number on the GARMIN site.
My wife's 310 (non traffic version) came with a 12V charger part number
010-10723-06. But his doesn't really mean anything as GARMIN change their numbers from time-to-time.
This only shows a single coloured led when charging the unit. (?green)
If you have an RDS-TMC cable this usually comes with two leds one green for power and the other shows Red,Amber and Green depending on the TMC status. This has a part number 010-00566-02
Does your unit charge up from any other power source? Plug it into your computer's USB port overnight - it may not fully charge the unit but it should charge it a bit. _________________ Phil |

Might be time for a new adaptor
Despite Garmin describing part # 010-10723-06 as a "12-volt adapter cable", it actually provides 5V (at up to 1A), using a DC-DC convertor. (The other style of vehicle adaptor just passes the 12V through to the unit (eg 7xx series, Streepilot C5xx series etc).
A non-Garmin adaptor will work with the 3xx series - so long as it can supply 1A and you connect it to the cradle (not the Nüvi). (The Nüvi doesn't check for the Garmin 'Personality Resistor' when powered from the cradle. Very strange things happen if it then tries to draw more current than the adaptor can supply!).
BTW - the Traffic Receiver for the 3xx series, is the GTM-12 which has to be connected via the USB port on the Nüvi itself. (I think it's actually an RS232-c device, rather than USB...) |

Thanks for replies,
Just nipped out in the van and it's now amber with 3 bars on the battery display
Will investigate replacing the cable, I've got a Zumo at home, wonder if that charger cable is the same? I'll look when I go home later! |

An update for future reference, Bought a new car charger lead and no change!
Have just backdated the Nuvi software so will see how that goes. If no change I presume theres something wrong internally and it's new satnav time. |

Update, the software revert didn't work. I think I may of recently updated the bluetooth software, maybe thats the problem. Reverted to V2.8 BT will see if that works. |
