I understand that the sim card is located in the charging lead. Is the receiver located in the 540 itself?
The reason I am asking is that if I buy one I want to hide the charging lead so I only have the mini usb plug on display and do not want this to hinder the operation of the device. _________________ -------------------------

The SIM card is located inside the unit itself. There is no Traffic Receiver if you are using LIVE services. The Traffic information comes via the SIM card using GPRS.You can get LIVE services without even having a power connection, if your battery has more than about 30% charge in it. _________________ Tim |

Cheers Tim, after struggling with GPRS Traffic and RDS TMC for so long I just need to convince the other half that is is worth the price tag (now around £229).
I have recently subscribed to the map update service for my 730, do you know if this would be transferable to the 540? _________________ -------------------------

For your first problem, I offer "Good Luck". HD Traffic isn't without its problems, though, with roads being shown as closed when they aren't on occasion, and other anomalies too.
I'm afraid you'll have to ask TomTom the second point. I have no idea. _________________ Tim |

Don't forget if you use the Jukebox facility on your 530 that there ISN'T one on the 540 or the 740, only the 940.
I think MobilNova may provide a third-party solution that will work, but not as elegant a solution as having it built in. |

Thanks for the jukebox info. I don't use it though so not an issue for me. _________________ -------------------------
