My MIL has expressed a desire/need for a SatNav for her car. This is good as we had decided to buy one for her this Christmas.
As a Zumo user I'm not well placed to make an informed choice of MIL-friendly SatNavs and seek the advice/opinions of the subscribers here.
IMO she needs: UK mapping only, full TTS instructions, full UK postcode searching and simplicity of operation. Not much really! I'm open to arguments as to why she may not need TTS etc.

My options would be
Navman S90i, as she can then take picture of popular places.
Mio C320 although doesnt have TTS, but easy to use.

I fear that picture taking would tax her technical ability just a little too much.
But I'll look at the unit nevertheless.

TomTom GO or Garmin Nuvi. The simpler the better so one of the more basic models without any frills such as a ONE or nuvi 200.
Both will be easily understood by even the worst technophobe.

when garmin launched the nuvi 2xx series they did state it was 'so simple your gran could use it'.
the newer range (2x5) has some updated features including a slightly improved navigation screen.
best bet would be to have a play in halfrauds and see which you think she could cope with.
if i were you though i'd find one that lacked my postcode

TTS is a 'nice to have' rather than 'must have' feature. All the devices that offer it do so in company with many more features that may well add confusion and unnecessary complexity (as well as additional cost).

Chose the Nuvi 265WT in the end. Reasons - in no particular order: robust screen mount, I have a Zumo, Halfords stated 'it breaks we give you a new one there and then rather than sending it away (TomTom)' policy

PS why is a case for these toys an optional extra? My Zumo came with a case.
