My partner has got a Tomtom 930 and recently purchased a Samsung F480 Tocco phone. When pairing the two for Hands free calling etc, the phone stays connected for a short period then disconnects from the Tomtom, then pairs again almost straight away. The tomtom says the phone has disconnected, but the phone says it is still connected, then the phone says it has disconnected but the tomtom shows that the phone is connected. Has anyone else experienced this problem and managed to resolve this? The Tomtom website states the phone is compatible. |

I have seen similar on a 530 with a Sony phone but as it has not caused any issues, I have ignored it. It only gives the verbal message "connected to Sony" at the start. From then on the phone with a cross icon appears and disappears but no spoken messages, GPRS traffic works and so does hands free calling.
I think, but I have not really investigated this, is that the TomTom is switching between using the phone as a dial up modem for the GPRS data and then becoming a handsfree device for the phone and treats these two communications as different types of bluetooth connection and this appears to connecting and reconnecting every time it downloads some traffic data.
TomTom also seems to keep switching its advanced bluetooth mode to "incoming phone calls cannot be accepted whilst accessing wireless data (recommended)" whilst the phone can support incoming calls with data. _________________ Drivelux |

Hi thanks for your response. We are not able to retain the connection long enough to try the wireless data. Just maintaining hands free calling is har enough. At times when the tomtom says there is no connection with the phone, it does receive incoming calls.
The constant 'phone not connected', 'phone connected' announcments is anoying !!! |

I've had the same problems on a TT930 - first of all using a Nokia N95 which took several firmware updates before it worked reliably with the Tom Tom and now exactly the same problem with my new Nokia N96.
I've kept my TomTomup to date - currently running 8.300 software downloaded through TT Home.
It also seems to have the same problem when I've tried it on friends phones so I suspect it may well be something on the Tomtom causing it - either way I gave up tring to use it as a car kit and got a seperate one. |
