|

Hi there,
I'm a new TomTom GO 540 LIVE owner and apart from one or two minor quirks (very sensitive volume control and day/night colours switching), I'm so far very happy with the device.
I also own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking to use the TomTom for handsfree calling, which according to TomTom's own website both devices are compatible. However, I'm struggling to set this up.
The procedure I been following for both devices are as follows:
On the iPhone 3G:
- I select 'Settings', 'General', 'Bluetooth', 'On'
(Here the iPhone reports that it is 'Now Discoverable')
On the TomTom:
- I select 'Mobile Phone', 'Yes to establish connection'
(Strangely, the iPhone seems to detect the TomTom and reports that it is 'Not Paired')
- The TomTom then asks whether I want to start searching for mobile phones, I select 'Yes'
(The 540 then 'searches' for about 5-10 seconds and then reports 'No phones found. Please make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.')
I've conducted some other tests with other devices, the TomTom is able to pair successfully with a Nokia E51, and the iPhone with an Motorola headset. So my current thinking is that there must be a 'bug' with the TomTom software OR TomTom have made a mistake on their website.
However, I would be interested to learn whether anybody else has experienced behaviour or have been able to bond the devices successfully (without the use of glue! )
Many thanks for any help you can give!
Kind regards

I don't know if it's much help, but the iPhone is discussed a little in this thread. _________________ Andy

I've paired it OK with iPhone 3G, quite often doesn't find it on first sweep for phones, sometimes takes a couple of goes to get it. |

Works on my 3G as well, always takes 2 or three searches to find but works. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi GPS_fan, adski & Darren,
With a bit more perseverance on my part, I've today had success on connecting my iPhone and TomTom!
Thank you for your tips and feedback though - it's very much appreciated!
Regards
