..
I keep seeing adverts likethis one for cheap Satnav from Hong Kong, but I am wary of whether the items may be copies. Has anyone any experience of buying Satnav or similar from HK by post? And if it were not legit, would I be able to keep it updated? Alan. |

Personally i'd be wary.
Payment only by PayPal.
T&C states: All items are 100% new.
but the listing states:
Condition: Refurbished
The current Go 710 looks like this. That looks like a really old model TomTom. Possibily hacked to have the latest software and maps and possibly not legit.
Pay a bit more an get one you know is ok over here. |

The Go-700 was a decent device (in its day) it is an old unit compared to what is available today. The GPS receiver isn't as good as the modern devices but that said it is still a decent quality product.
My main concern would be the age of the maps supplied with the unit, the chances are they will be very out of date, but if you are prepared to spend a few quid updating the device to the latest map then its a bargain - if/ when DennisN spots this post he will probably go after the unit as he still woes the day he let the 700 go to a new owner.
If you don't need the handsfree for the phone though that this unit offers I would look at a new purchase TomTom XL which does come with the latest maps and would probably work out cheaper than the 700 off e-bay when you factor the cost of updating the map(s) - Mike |

Thanks guys - makes sense. I'll avoid the HK option! Alan |
