Hi all, still pretty new to the gps world so please bear with me!
I've got the tomtom 720 and i've updated it using tomtom home, it now says i've got the latest maps etc. BUT i've seen on here that i can add on the new lane assist thing so i downloaded navcore 8.204 but being new i'm not really sure what to do with it now!!! it's sitting in a zipped folder on my desktop and i have no idea how to get it onto the tomtom.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't be messing around putting software intended for the x40 devices on your unit as this will not offer you what is needed for lane assistance/reality view.
What you should do is:
1/ Make a full Wndows Explorer backup of the device.
2/ Update the software using TT Home to version 8.300
3/ Update the map to version 815 using Home/ Latest map gaurantee
4/ Make another backup
5/ Customise the device with speed cameras, warnings and POi etc
6/ Use it for navigation
If you follow the above you will get the lane assistance, reality view, IQ routes 2 - Mike |

In addition to what Mike said...
Unfortunately you might have to pay to get the map version you need.
If you only have any v7 software version installed at the moment when you use the Latest Map Guarantee, you only get the "latest" v7 map. If you have a version of v8 software, then it will offer you the latest v8 map. But if you update the software later, you don't get another go at the free maps.
So it all depends on what you have got now...
To find out, tap the signal strength bars on the screen, then tap the small "Version" box on the following screen. That will give you a whole page of text including the full map name and number. |
