I concur with cutslick.
I've been running the 8.204 for several days on my 920T. IT'S GREAT so far. By far the biggest improvement is the faster refresh rate. Former 8.3 users will think their units got a new engine with doubled memory.
I did have voice issues with Kate (TTS) carried over from the 8.3 BUT...I deleted them using Home both from my unit and from the Home backup on My Computer before downloading the latest version via home from TomTom (no need to mess with version 7's etc.) It works perfectly now.
In fact - it's all gravy, I don't know of anything that is affected negatively, I even managed to bond my mobile easier for wireless support as the 8.204 had better support for my mobile phone.
Plus: You get the much improved x40 icons. _________________ TT Go 920T

You say you don't know of anything that is affected negatively.

That I could not tell you (not tried it) as I only use the RDS-TMC aerial - which after an initial reboot, works great.
On the "refresh rate" thread, some members did report problems with GPRS, I think, though whether these were permanent or resolvable, they alone know. _________________ TT Go 920T

Thanks, as with 8.204 I cannot get the GPRS Traffic to work and was hoping that you had! _________________ -------------------------

I've just installed 8.204 & it works fine on my 520 - I'm even using the included 8.204 Loquendo & have no problem with voices
edit: I don't have GPRS Traffic so can't comment on that |

I don't think the light sensor that dims the screen works with this version which I suppose is a minor negative. Don't use GPRS so overall this is a much better alternative than 8.300 until TomTom fix it.
I'm using a 520T. |

My road test on M65 seems ok
traffic was ok after initial fix which took quite some time
I never use GPRS so can't comment _________________ marshall TomTom Go 520 , Western Europe v805.1801 map. app 8.2204- v7KATE 4gb sd card + other cards |

One 'small' annoyance with the Navcore 8.204 used on my 920:
The latest 'large' traffic camera icon set, (produced by PGPSWorld post the 8.3 launch) that appears top left, is reduced to what appears no larger than half the pre-8.3 44x44 size. (My maths may be out a little).
I have reduced the squint factor a little by disabling the auto zoom feature for the time being. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a larger icon display another way or is this a locked in feature of the Navcore for POI display? _________________ TT Go 920T

I am not too sure why you want to install Navcore to a 720 that is intended for the 940 Live, assuming you have a back up on your PC taken with Windows Explorer simply use WinRar to extract all the files/ folder straight to the drive letter associated with your TomTom, whether it will work correctly with that installed isn't know by me as I have never tried such a combination - Make sure you have a back up just in case it all goes wrong - Mike |
