It appears that you can only set a start and end point, and no waypoints so you cannot force it to go via a certain location. Strange traffic info as it displays different traffic info than that displayed using the tomtom home traffic function (right click tomtom home icon on the task bar and select 'show traffic')

The route planner show virtually the same traffic as the HD traffic on my 940.

I tried it the last couple of days. Just after lunch yesterday and around 3pm today.
Its strange that it is showing the M3 from J3 to J2(M25)as having about a 25 minute delay on both days. No mention on my 530 or the AA website and only an accident causes it to get that much of a delay when I travel along that stretch around 8am.
Looks like a bug to me.

My 940 is reporting the same, inaccurately!

Have had a look at the route planner, but are missing the function to plan a route rather than just a destination.

There is still some way till it can replace tools like TYRE. (http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/help/)

Was going to wait until weekend, but couldn't.

Planned a few routes and some surprises. Don't have a 'Live' TT to compare to.

Example was Hillingdon to Wembley at 6pm. Took me down the A40 to Hanger Lane gyratory. Didn't show any traffic probs en route. Did show queuing traffic from Ealing to Hangar Lane, about 3 mins, but that's not on the route.
I know from personal experience that the A40 has a que for 7ral hundred yards (sometimes more) along A40 to Hangar Lane at that time. It can move slowly, right enough, but nothing shown on the map. Nothing shown for the North Circular either, which has a que from almost the Harrow Road to Hangar Lane at that time.

Darren, is the sort of thing they want to report on, or is it just the 'route planning' and software.?

Hi 253,

When you submit feedback there are several categories to file your comments under from routes / planning to bugs etc.

It's going to have to be good to compete with Google Maps. This application is just brilliant.

If you haven't tried it lately, then the ability to plan a route, then grab a point and drag it to a new location as a via is great. It gives dynamic feedback on route length and time whilst you're doing it.

As for POI, Google's full of user generated POI, has pictures and links to Wikipedia. What more could you want. Rolling Eyes

I agree; it started with viaMichelin (whose route planning website is still operational see http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/int/tpl/hme/MaHomePage.htm ) but Google Maps seems set to rule the roost.

...... likely to be inferior to the TomTom HD stuff
From the info seen so far I am not sure that’s possible! Check out an incident, then go and look at a live jam cam. See if the two match. It's not very often they do! Confused

I was interested to see the other day that when I planned a route from Wiltshire to Aston in Birmingham it provided me with the most logical (and quickest ) route i.e. up the M5 to join the M6 eastbound and then back down the A38 Aston Expressway ( a route I have used many times)

BUT.... at the time of planning the route the M6 eastbound was completely shut due to an accident!!!!! (and as shown on google maps and even TT's own HD traffic site)

so it seems when it plans a route it completely ignores the current traffic situation which is fine if you are planning a route for the future but not so clever if you are planning a route just before you set off
